Speed is a scalar quantity, and just has a magnitude (i.e. you may travel in any direction), while velocity is a vector, and requires a direction (e.g. the difference between the speed 25km/h, and the velocity 25km/h North)

As used in physics, velocity is a vector, that is to say, the direction of the movement is also taken in account.

Velocity has a direction while speed doesn't. This is why we say that velocity is a vector quantity and speed a scalar quantity.

What is the difference between speed and velocity?

The difference between speed and velocity is that velocity is speed with a direction vector associated with it. It's that direction vector that makes them different.Speed is displacement (distance traveled) per unit time. Velocity is displacement (distance traveled) per unit time in a given direction. The "directionality" associated with velocity makes it a vector quantity, while speed is a scalar quantity. The main difference between them in everyday life is that "speed" is usually usedproperly, but "velocity" is usually used Improperly.-- "30 miles per hour" is a speed-- "30 miles per hour north" is a velocity-- "30 miles per hour north" and "30 miles per hour west" are the same speed but different velocities.

Is displacement an example of vector quantity?

yes.... A2: displacement is for of a number where a vector has direction. Kind of the difference in speed and velocity but the main difference in this is velocity can be negative.

What is the main difference between speed and velocity involves?

Velocity includes the information on what direction the speed is pointing. 60 mph north and 50 mph north are different velocities. 60 mph north and 60 mph west are also different velocities. Speed doesn't care what direction it's going. 60 mph north and 60 mph west are the same speed. 60 mph 50 mph are different speeds.

What is the main difference between momentum and moment?

moment is nothing but a force but momentum is the product of mass and velocity.

If Ben runs from a position 3 miles west of Main Street to a new position 45m west of Main Street in 6 seconds - What is Ben's velocity?

Velocity = distance divided by time / Velocity = average speed over time / Acceleration = (change of) velocity divided by time elapsed Change in velocity = final velocity "minus" initial velocity divided by time elapsed
