Answer 1

Jews do not recognize Jesus as the Messiah. The Messiah is one who brings peace to the earth, and that has not happened yet). Jews have different holy books: in addition to the Tanakh (the Christians call this the Old Testament), they have the Talmud and the Zohar (and more).

Christians recognize Jesus as the Messiah as prophesied in the "Old Testament". They have included books in the Bible that are not recognized by Jews--they call them the "New Testament". Some Christians believe that the covenant God made with the Jewish People in the Old Testament is replaced by a new covenant made with Christians in the New Testament.

Answer 2

Christians are the people who believe in the Christ and believe that he died on the cross and was resurrected on the third day. Jews believe in the same God but do not believe in Jesus and till now they are waiting for the Messiah to come and bring about the Divine Kingdom.

Answer 3

Christianity grew out of Judaism - Jesus and the first disciples were all Jewish; as was Paul, the main missionary to the Gentiles (non-Jewish people). Therefore, they share a lot of common heritage such as the Old Testament, the 10 Commandments, the belief in prophecy, etc.

The major difference is centered around the person and work of Jesus Christ. Christians believe that the prophecies of the Old Testament about the coming Messiah were fulfilled in Jesus and that he ushered in a new way of relating to God, by dependence on God's grace rather than by obedience to the entire Law. Jews respectfully but firmly disagree. Christians also believe that Jesus was and is part of the Godhead. He is held to be co-eternal with God, uncreated, and partakes of the very essence of God. At the same time, Christians also assert that God is one (the doctrine of the Trinity). Jews firmly object to this and see Christian belief as non-monotheistic; a worship including Jesus Christ rather than God alone.

Answer 4

Christians believe that Christ was/is the Messiah. Jews (other than Messianic Jews or some such) do not believe that Christ was/is the Messiah.

The Messiah is the person who allows free passage from God to Man through his sacrifice. The Jews want a King, an earthly King, they did not yet get one. Christians are those Jews and Gentiles who noticed and continue to notice that Christ is the Messiah and that Christianity does not have any downside. Pascal would agree.

The most defining difference is that Christians believe Jesus was the Messiah.

The Jewish community believe that Jesus was not the Messiah, and are still waiting for the day the Messiah comes.

Christians believe that the Messiah Has Come, while Jewish people do not.

Judaism has a lot of dietary restrictions, many Laws that must be strictly kept, including circumcision for males, and various holy days. Much of this was handed down by God to the Israelites. Orthodox Judaism also doesn't recognize Jesus as the Messiah. Jewish Law teaches ongoing atonement for sin through various means.

Messianic Judaism follows the same Laws and restrictions as Judaism except they recognize Jesus as the Messiah.

Christianity follows the ministry and teachings of Jesus. It recognizes Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God (God in human form), it abolishes the dietary restrictions of Judaism and many of the Laws and limits that mankind had added to the Jewish law over the years. Christianity teaches salvation and forgiveness of sins through belief in Jesus and repentance.

Christianity comes from Judaism as Jesus was Jewish. Christianity then is the "evolution" of Judaism after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
