compounds have a definite ratio for bonding (H20,where 2 hydrogen atoms combine with 1 oxygen atom) .In a compound the bonding takes place at the atomic level where the atoms bind. they cannot be separated physically they need to be separated chemically.

mixtures do not have a definite ratio at all(Fe2O3·nH2O which is rust is a mixture because the ratio of water is not definite with the ratio of Fe2O3.which is why it is denoted as

nH2O.where n can be any number ( say 1,30,40 etc) this means that any number of water molecules will bind with Fe2O3.)in a mixture the bonding takes place at a molecular level.they can be separated physically

What is the difference between composition and mixture?

"A chemical compound is a pure material made out of a combination of two or more chemical elements that have been bonded through chemical procedures." " a chemical mixture is considered to be impure substance. What make it different from a compound is that a compound or pure substance contains constant composition; furthermore, chemical mixtures can be both created and separated physically and simply do not require chemical processes." What is the difference between a pure substance and a homogeneous mixture?

The difference between a homogeneous mixture and a pure substance is that a pure substance has a fixed composition and cannot be separated because it is chemically bonded and a homogeneous mixture can be separated.

A compound is a pure material.

What is the difference between element compound mixture?

A mixture is a substance composed of two or more components physically combined. An element is a pure substance composed of one kind of atom. A compound is a pure substance formed when atoms of two or more elements chemically combine.

What is the difference between a chemical compound and a pure chemical compound?

A difference of quality; the pure chemical compound is a refined compound, having a very low concentration of impurities.
