The beach is called Cape Canaveral National Seashore. The road out also has a veiw of the shuttle launch pad. To get there take 528 the beachline east to I-95. Take I-95 North and get off on the second Titusville exit (Garden Street). Turn right and head east toward the beach. This road takes you straight to the beach (small beach fee). Tampa is about 1 hour and 30 minutes away.
Cocoa beach is the closest beach to Orlando. Traveling by auto, it takes about an hour to get to Cocoa Beach from Orlando. If traffic is heavy, it is a holiday, etc... plan for about an hour and a half drive time.
