Honestly i would say the betta is the easiset fresh fish to raise. Betta do not need a filter system to live unlike other fresh fish. Betta only eat three to four pellets a day and that's a lot of money save.
(*Another word for 'betta fish' is Siamese fighting fish. they prefer 65F temp. water, and is as easy to care for to put in a bowl! They're quite suitable for children, and I've found this great website- 'www.betafish.com'
Also, they are best surviving alone- why do you think they are called fighting fish? indeed they do fight! Don't leave soap residue around because it may cause death. Keep your tank or bowl covered.

∙ 14y agobettas are not hardy at all so i would definetely not recommend them to anyone who is a beginner, so first a golfish for children then a dwarf gourami for teens or a cherry barb or a gold barb or you could get a school of tetras, the neons are perfect, also loaches are really good to clean and so are snails sometimes sharks are easy to look after.

I do agree a betta fish b/c they do not have to eat for weeks to live and can live in almost every condition. Actualy the can go w/o being in water for at least 2hrs. Although do not forget that eventhough you may want more than 1 betta in a tank they will generaly fight b/c they are the legendary Siameese Fighting Fish. ;P ! 0; betta's eat da fish flakes yall...
