Box turtles are typically very mellow critters and won't harm any other pets. The problem however is that cats, dogs and so on can harm the Box turtle. Even if a dog or cat does not harm the turtle, the stress of any other pets bothering it can cause it to stop eating and die.
In fact, turtles are not as easy to keep as one may believe. They require a balanced diet, sunlight, moisture and will need to hibernate over the winter to stay healthy. Also remember that they are considered a threatened species in much of their range and owning or possessing one without a permit is highly illegal in some places. If you find one in the wild, simply leave it be, or return it. Captive-bred Eastern Box turtles can be purchased from breeders.
