Sharks search the ocean looking for food. Attacks on people are extremely rare but do happen. Sharks find food by using small gelatinous filled pores in their noses to detect electrical waves given off by all living creatures.

Sharks are apex predators. The role of apex or top predator in an ecosystem can not be underestimated. The depletion or removal of sharks is likely to destabilize marine ecosystems and effect prey species in ways that cannot currently be predicted.

Sharks also have a role in maintaining genetic fitness in prey populations. Predators by nature target the 'easiest to catch' prey specimens. This invaribly results in sick and weaker fish being caught first. Through this process the "weaker" genes are removed from the pool, ultimately maintaining the overall genetic "fitness" of prey populations.
