you will have 2 exhaust clamps on a Z3, one around the pipes which attach to the gearbox, the other attaching around the rear silencer to the underbody of the car.
these are very commonly worn due to rust from water exposure on the underside of the car.
These parts are relatively cheap and stocked at most BMW dealers
