using number one plug as front drivers side my 6 cylinder firing order is 1, 6, 3, 5, 2, 4. My engine is out of a 69 Pontiac Sunbird but I believe it is the same as the Buick engine.
Some Pontiacs came from the factory with Chevy engines. If this is the case on your 79 firebird, then the transmission will bolt up to a 350 Chevy. If the car came with a Pontiac engine, then the bolt pattern is different and would not bolt up.
The firing order is 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2. 1,3,5,7 are the left bank and 2,4,6,8 is the right bank with the distributor turning clockwise.
