The distributor is synched or zeroed with the scan tool. It can not be done with a timing light. The firing order is 1-3-4-2.

I am assuming this did not occur before the tune-up and isn't a cam wear or bent pushrod problem. Check your firing order. The firing order is stamped on the intake manifold.

They didn't come that way, but, sometimes people swap out the 289 cam with a 351 cam and that gives the car the same firing order as a 351. I've never been real sure why people do that, since it doesn't improve anything, but, occassionaly you will find a 289 that someone has done that to.
