Ellis island started out as just an empty place in New York City and was made into Ellis island
Ellis island receives the populations as an island of tears because it is where 12 million immigrants made their first stop to America.
A museum was made on Ellis Island in order to tell the story of the immigrants who moved through there as they made their way to new lives in America. It also tells the story of the building as well as the staff who worked there. Ellis Island has an important place in the American cultural mythology, and it is important to acknowledge that place and its history. The museum serves this purpose.
No, not one movie has been made in Ellis island.
Ellis Island is important as people from round the world, their ancestors will have passed through there to get to America. That is what has made America so culturally diverse today. Millions of immigrants passed through Ellis Island. A fire on Ellis Island burnt down records of immigrants passing through, no copies were made of these so tracing ancestors can be a difficulty. (I visited the Ellis Island Museum but I still do not fully understand so don't take all my words! :P)
Ellis Island was largely formed by landfill. It has the shape it does because it was made artificially.

Immigrates trying to come to the United States
The original Ellis Island facility built in 1892 was made almost entirely of Georgia Pine. Although the rosin was removed from the 400 ft. long floor, this oily flammable sap remained in the walls. The building was a tinderbox and burned in less than two hours in the early morning hours of June 15th 1897.
The first Skyscraper was Oriel Chambers in Liverpool. Designed by local architect Peter Ellis in 1864, the building was the world's first iron-framed, glass curtain-walled office building. It was only 5 floors high.
