Use a API GL-4 SAE 75w90w or 80w90 gear oil. I like the 75w90 better in cooler temps. And also the bottles may be labeled as a GL 4 or GL 5 both are fine.I have used the auto zone, advance, valvoline, and royal purple brands and even super tech(walmarts brand which is penzoil really).I like royal purple and super tech the best less tight shifting in cold temps and did not like the synthetic by valvoline.I have owned my 87 b2200 since new and the two recommends are my choice after 22 yrs of owning my 5spd manual.
