A copier or laser printer uses dry ink called toner, a fine plastic powder, to create an image. The toner is selectively placed on a light-sensitive surface which has been exposed to the image to be copied. It is then transfered to paper. At this point it is just loose dust on the surface of the paper and could be easilly brushed off.
The paper with the toner on it passes between heated rollers which press the toner into the paper and melt it at the same time. The result is an image permanently fixed to the paper.
The heated roller is the Fuser, because it fuses the toner to the paper.
The fuser unit is a pair of compression rollers that act to press the toner particles into the paper, while they melt them to it. The top one is heated by a quartz lamp, this roller melts the toner to the paper, as it exits the fuser unit, while the lower roller applies pressure to the paper.
it fuses the toner to the paper
The purpose of the fuser in a laser printer is quite necessary. It is the part of the printer that heats up and makes the entire printing process possible. Without it, a laser printer would not work.
fuser assembly
How long does a fuser unit last in the copier, if you have a large number of copies to be run
According to the Cisco Academy IT Essentials: PC Hardware and Software textbook...the fuser on the laser printer isn't getting hot enough.
Laser printer fusers can be useful for specific applications and users, but may not be worth the cost. They often cause many problems and require expensive repairs and replacements.

The printed paper would be treated as blank paper by the laser. Otherwise, preprinted forms, etc, couldn't be used - which they can!
The component of a laser printer that might burn the skin if touched without letting the printer cool is the fuser unit. The fuser unit uses heat and pressure to fuse toner onto the paper, and it can reach temperatures of up to 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) during operation. If someone touches the fuser unit without allowing it to cool down first, it can cause a serious burn injury. It is important to always follow the manufacturer's instructions and warning labels when using any electronic device, including laser printers. no. There is no fuser in a Bubble Jet Printer.
Yes most people believe that laser print fuser is definitely worth having because of the many benefits. one benefit is that you can print many pages in one click and it will print very fast. another benefit is that you rarely have to replace the ink.
HP LaserJet fuser can most likely be purchased directly from the HP website, however it is also available from an online retailer such as Amazon. It could also be available from purchase via printer specific retailers, such as The Printer Works, All-Laser and Precision Roller.
To check for a faulty fuser assembly do the following. Open the clam shell cover of the printer. In the back of the printer is the fuser assembly unit. The green part of this unit on the back portion of the fuser will open.Remember the fuser runs at an extremely high temperature. Be sure you are touching felted portions of the unit only to avoid burns. Gently push the green rear portion of the fuser unit back. Turn the printer around and look through the back. Are there visible streaks or rips in the upper fuser roller? Are there any visible bubbles in the upper fixing roller? If any of these symptoms are present you will need to replace the fuser unit of the printer.
