Volcanic gas consists of a variety of gasses that are trapped in magma. These gasses are released when pressure decreases. Volcanic gas can either come out during an explosive eruption or from vents called fumaroles without an eruption. The most common gasses are water vapor, carbon dioxide, and sulfur dioxide.
