The Trans Canada Highway is a 4,990 mile highway that connects all 10 provinces in Canada. Construction on the highway began in 1950 after passage of the Trans-Canada Highway Act of 1949.It was officially opened to traffic beginning in 1962 and it was completed in 1971.

∙ 14y agoThe Trans-Canada Highway is the world's longest national highway. It stretches a total of 7,821 km (4,860 mi) between St John's, Newfoundland, and Victoria, British Columbia.
Although the Trans-Canada Highway was "officially opened" by Prime Minister John Diefenbaker in September 1960, the Rogers Pass section had still not been finished. The "official completion" took place in July 1962.
Work on the Trans-Canada Highway will never end. It is constantly being upgraded and improved.
