the ideal tire pressure is usually printed on the side wall of the tire
Comment from Asker:
But the standard tire size for my vehicle (2006 Ford Escape XLT 4x4 Automatic) is 235 70 R16, which I changed to 225 70 R16. Since the tire size is slightly different than the standard one, I think it may be lower than the printed recommended pressure in car's door (not on the side wall of the tire, because this one shows the max pressure but not the recommended pressure).
You have no way to tell the correct tire pressure by the tire size. It depends on what vehicle you are putting it on. 225/70r14 sounds like a tire size for an early-mid 90's Ford Ranger/Mazda B-series Pick up. Check the place card on the drivers side door to see the correct pressure for your vehicle (usually 35psi if it's a truck, 30-32psi) for a car. DO NOT go by what the sidewall of the tire says, as this is the maximum psi for the TIRE not the vehicle. If you have too much or too little pressure in your tires it will kill your gas mileage and make your tires wear unevenly.

The proper pressure for you vehicle's tires will be listed on the label on the driver side door jamb. The proper pressure for you vehicle's tires will be listed on the label on the driver side door jamb.
The original Goodyear 23x10.50x12 turf tires on my Bolens 1256 indicate the tire pressure should not exceed 10 p.s.i., according to the information on the sidewall. That said, these are tractor tires, and not street legal or trailer tires.
air pressure
That depends where and when you are driving. In my area of western Canada we can use them from 1st Oct to 30 April. - According to a friend of mine, US States regulations are similar possibly with different dates
If by winter tires, mean studded tires than no it not recommended to use them when the roads are clear because they will tear up the roads and are unnecessary. The reason you use studded tires is for better traction in the snow and ice.
Trelleborg and Vee Rubber are a couple of the many manufacturer's that make winter motorcycle tires. Trelleborg tires are generally studded, so check to make sure studded tires are legal in your state. There are other types of winter motorcycle tires available, however. They should be able to point you in the right direction at your local bike shop.
its against the law to have studded tires EDIT: NOT TRUE. Studded tires are not illegal everywhere. Certain states and provinces allow studded tires between set dates during the season. Check with your local laws. To stud a tire, it needs to be a special tire that was made to accept studs.
No, studded tires are not legal in Illinois.
are studded snow tires legal in Illinois for postal trucks?
Aluminum studded tires are great for mud and snow.
The ideal pressure is the pressure recommended by the manufacture of the vehicle the tires are mounted on. Look in the owners manual and on the drivers door post for the ideal pressure. The pressure listed on the tire sidewall is NOT the correct pressure it is the maximum pressure the tire can handle.
If you are looking to buy studded tires, any reputable tire dealer should carry them in stock. I recommend places like Pepboy's or Town Fair Tire for available models.
