If you don't leave your computer open for very long, I'd say just forego getting a screen saver. Since you won't really enjoy seeing it much, it would be pointless to use up space on your hard drive for a screen saver.
Disable your screen saver, if you use one, and disable any "sleep" function if you use one.
It sounds like you have a short time delay for when the screen saver kicks-in. Change the time delay the computer sets between your last activity and starting the screen-saver. In windows 7 - right-click anywhere on your screen (so long as your mouse-pointer is not over an icon) and select personalize. In the dialogue box that appears, left-click on the screen saver icon (bottom-right of the box). You should see the word wait a small box next to it. The number in the box is the length of time the computer waits to start the screen-saver. Use the up and down buttons to change the time interval to a more suitable period. Remember to click apply.
Screen savers are changed in the Desktop and Screen saver section of the System Preferences. Select the desired screen saver in the left hand pane or tick the Use random screen saver box.

You should not. You should use centimetres.
Most computer companies use inches to display their screen sides.
it does not hurt the computer, but maybe the monitor. The screen saver is used to prevent the current image on the screen from being burned into the screen. Though it was a more crucial feature on rear-projection (thick) monitors, it is a good idea to use one on LCD and LED monitors in order to prevent the image from being burned into the screen.
This is what you do on my laptop: * Right-click and then select Properties from the drop list. * It should come up with a small window saying Display Properties and go along the top and click where it says Screensaver. * It comes up with a page saying Settings, Preview and a drop list of patterns that you can put on it and then preview to see if you like it.
This depends on the screen type, the screen size, and also the computer's power. For example; a low power computer may use 200watts, where a high power gaming setup might use 800watts. A screen could use as little as 5watts, if it is a small LCD screen, while a big CRT monitor might use 200watts. Your screen should tell you it's power usage, as should your computer, if you examine the power supply.
You look up in the elements, Click Screen saver and there you have it. There are 2 screens which you can customize in IOS: The lock screen, and the desktop screen. The iPad doesn't have a traditional screen-saver function, as it goes to sleep and wakes up instantly to save battery power.
The best brand of screen saver is whichever you like best! For the most part they all do the same thing so it really is a matter of personal taste and preference.
