The Tenth Amendment gives certain powers to the states that are not given to the federal government. Basically, the government gives the states the hard decisions to make, such as abortion or gay marriage. This amendment is important because it gives more freedom to all of the people. A state government can handle more pertinent issues for its residents than can the federal government. It also makes for a smaller federal government, which is good or bad, depending on political views.

The tenth amendment is similar to the Articles of Confederation. It allows states to hold elections. It also ensures that each state retains its freedom, power, Independence, and sovereignty.
