They are different processors, the difference in not only in technology process which was used to produce the cpus but also in frequency and the size of CPU cash. Also core 2 duo is more efficient about power consumption.

There is no technological difference but the only difference should be how it is phrased
A single core processor is just that... one processing core. A dual core processor is actually two processing cores on one chip. It is like having two processors in your system, but it is faster than two individual processors.
sempron is not a dual core processor.
is the processor with dual cores.
Dual core 2 is the 2nd version of the dual core processor and quad core is obviously 4 cores in a processor.
The difference between 2.66 dual core processor, and 64-bit dual core processor, is really two different processor specifications. 2.66 is actually 2.66Ghz, which is the clock speed of the processor. The clock speed tells you how many times the processor can execute instructions per second. A dual core processor is a processor with two cores on one die. This can be thought of as having two processors in one. The bit specification of a processor tells you how many binary instructions a processor can execute per clock cycle. Most processors today are 32-bit (32 binary instructions per clock cycle) or 64-bit (64 binary instructions per clock cycle). More RAM can be used with a 64-bit processor. A 32-bit processor is limited to addressing 4 Gigabytes of RAM, while a 64-bit process can address (theoretically) 16 Exabytes of RAM.

I Would say nothing, except maybe the cores can split the load better in the 8 core. Can you provide a link to the dual quad core your looking at?
There are Celeron dual core processors today. However, just because you have Celeron processor, it does not mean your Celeron processor is a dual core processor. The easiest way to tell is to look at the Intel sticker on your computer. If it says "Dual Core," then it is dual core. If it does NOT say "Dual Core," then it is not dual core.
A dual core processor has two processing cores, whereas a quad core has four.
A dual voltage processor is the type that can use two different voltages. This feature allows a processor to be compatible with more motherboards.
