What is the main plot behind the Command and Conquer series?

GDI (Global Defense Initiative) was a division of the UN whose entire goal was to:

1. Control Tiberium

2. Reverse its spread

3. Stop the Brotherhood of Nod

Over time, The UN faded away, and GDI became very well known.

Tiberium is an alien substance that landed in Italy in a meteor. It changes any matter it touches into more Tiberium.

Nod's leader is a charismatic figure known only as Kane. Kane appears to be immortal since he never ages and there are records proving him to be extremely old, even though he has always looked no older than 35. Some say that the brotherhood is tied to Genesis 4:16, which says, "So Cain went out from the presence of the LORD and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden."

Kane is determined to accelerate the spread of Tiberium, believing it is the catalyst of the next stage of human evolution. GDI considers themselves as the last hope of democracy and freedom on earth, and Nod as a huge terrorist organisation that will stop at nothing to destroy GDI. Nod considers themselves the worlds last chance of equality and peace, as they provide food, water, shelter, and all of those things to those whom need it. They consider GDI as a fascist political consortium hellbent on controlling their sacred green crystal. Out of this came Tiberium Wars I, II, and III.

After Tib Wars I through II, GDI realized they could not currently destroy Nod by war, so they used a more subversive tactic. They took away all the borders of all the countries and redrew into the borders of blue, yellow, and red zones. Red zones suffer the worst Tiberium contamination, and cannot support human life. Yellow zones are dangerously contaminated, but contain most of the worlds population. Blue zones are the GDI headquarters and are considered the last refuge and hope of the civilized world.

Nod takes advantage of the chaos in yellow zones to disguise their military

infastructure and recruit members.
