Rizal wrote it after practicing ophthalmology in Heidelberg under a German specialist. One morning, he was walking along the Neckar River and saw the flowers blooming there. Their beauty inspired him to wish that the flowers and their fragrance could be transported to his homeland of the Philippines to bring peace, faith, virtue, and health to his countrymen.

It is a wish to Rizal's homeland of the Philippines. While working as an ophthalmologist in Heidelberg, he took regular morning walks by the river. One day, while observing the beauty of the flowers, and missing his country, he made a wish through this poem that the flowers would send his sentiments of love on the breeze to the Philippines.

i am actually looking for an interpretation myself but i really felt the need to improve the spelling and grammar of this one.

To the flowers of Heidelberg was written by Rizal to express his liking for Germany while he was studying there. However, though he liked Germany, the poem was his way of telling the Filipinos that his loyaltywas still to the Philippines.

At the time he wrote the poem, he was homesick and the flowers reminded him of the ones blooming in their garden at home.
