cylindrical projection
have fun :)
A common method is by projection. Imagine a lightbulb inside a clear globe inside a paper tube. The outlines of the continents will cast their shadows on the inside of the paper tube. This is often referred to as a "Mercator Projection". This results in distortion the further away from the equator you go. It can make Greenland appear to be larger than North America.
Distortion occurs.

Pythagoras stated the earth was round
There are wonderful pictures from space of earth. In them you can see it is round. The Ancient Greeks knew it was round.
It's not, the earth is round.
Galileo Galilee proved that the earth is round by earths shadow on the moon.
they aren't because the earth is round deerrhh!
That's because Earth is not accurately round
The proof that distortion occurs is to peel an orange in one piece, and then flatten the skin.
A map is printed on paper; a globe is the world map printed on a globe, which is round.
Round. Want proof? Find a picture of Earth from the moon. In 1969 a Earth Rise photo was taken showing the Earth in space.

Map projection
to start you get a round piece of cardboard and a circular piece of paper and glue together then get a pin puncture just under the paper and back up again on the other side of the cardboard get another piece of paper the same size and colour in you can also get wrapping paper if you preferred glue on and you have YOUR OWN BADGE!
To make a template, draw a picture on a piece of card and cut it out so threes a hole in your piece of card. Next, get a piece of paper and draw round the shape. Remove the card and, there you have it! The shape that you cut out, transferred onto the paper!
the world is round, it was discovered by Christopher Columbus.:)Before that it was discovered by the ancient Greeks who measured the diameter of the earth to an accuracy of a few per cent.

Wrap the strip of paper around the plate or can and mark it where it completes a full circle around the object. Then lay the strip on a flat surface and measure the marked length using the ruler. That length is the perimeter (circumference) of the round object.
It is a projection of a map.AdditionallyA map projection is used to represent all or part of the round Earth onto a flat surface which always creates some form of distortion. Mapmakers and mathematicians have devised countless ways to project the image of the globe onto paper.
