When writing a letter of complaint its important to?
Address your letter to someone at the top: the president of the company, the vice-president, or someone else with the authority to help you. If you have been a loyal customer of this particular company, say that. Briefly state your complaint. Do not attack the company or any of its employees. Do describe any actions that contributed to your problem. Propose a solution. If, for example, you had an auto repair that wasn't satisfactory, you could request a refund or ask that the repair be properly done. If possible, close on an optimistic note. For example, you could say that Company X has a fine reputation for customer service, so you are confident that your complaint will be resolved in a positive.

Get Started There are two basic steps involved in making a consumer complaint. First, contact the person or company who sold the item or performed the service. How do you appeal public housing eviction?
A PHA can evict someone under its jurisdiction in the same manner and for the same reasons any landlord can evict his tenant. If you feel that you have been wrongly evicted you can take the matter to court. In the case of a PHA you can file a complaint with HUD if you feel you have been wrongly evicted. Oftentimes an eviction can be resolved by an informal meeting. Under federal guidelines a PHA can evict you in some cases, and must evict you in certain cases. In either case it must be for a reason listed on their policy manual.
Asked in Discrimination
What is the best way to get information on a discrimination complaint at the U of Neb if you are not the accused?
I suspect that if you are not a party to a discrimination complaint at the University of Nebraska, you will not be able to get information unless you are a lawyer for one of the parties to it. You would probably have to follow releases by a University spokesperson. Any insight into why it is so difficult in finding out information about a matter like this, I am aware of the need to protest the people involved, but more transparency (sp) could lead to faster and more honest and just resolutions. What if you have information that could influence such a complaint? Can you request releases from a University spokesperson? If a complaint is resolved, can you access the decision? Sorry to go on like this, but the more I research, the more I find that in an effort to protect the complainant, this whole process has reversed the old saying " innocent until proven guilty " It also stains the character of the person that the charge was made against. It treats the innocent and the guilty alike in this manner. Makes it much too easy to bring false charges, and leaves little if any recourse for the accused. The difficulty in getting information makes the whole process draconian, and subject to fairness questions.

If you are paying a bill a little at a time because you dispute the charges can it be sent to a collection agency?
The debtor can send you to collections if you don't pay what was arranged at the time of service. The BBB isn't helpful if the business you've complained about isn't a member of the BBB. All the BBB does is help mediate and possibly put your complaint in their record. What you want to do is complain to the Attorney General of your state, your case will go further. If the complaint involves illegal actions, the state could file charges. The best thing you can do is consult with a lawyer before ceasing to pay the debtor. If the bill is not fair, then you may be told to stop paying it altogether until the case is resolved. Some lawyers will give you a free consultation, some will charge a fee. Even a small fee could be helpful to your overall cause so I would advise it strongly.
Does the BBB keep complaint records on home telephone companies?
You can inquire of the BBB (by phone or online) about specific businesses. If there are complaints on file, you will be told how many and if they are opened or resolved. All companies have complaints on occasion. It is unfortunate when the consumer must involve the BBB for resolution, but sometimes the "resolution" just means that the business offered a resolution that the consumer did not accept. For example, you may be unhappy with the arrangements made by a travel agent. You report the problem to the BBB when you are unable to resolve it through the company. The company then offers you 10% off your next trip booked through them. This counts are "resolution" even though you did not accept it. So read between the lines. Yes, the Better Business Bureau keeps records of complaints on home telephone companies along with all of the other complaint records. To check for complaints you can go to http://www.bbb.org/us/ and do a search for the company you want to check out.
