The Mirror of Erised shows your hearts deepest desire.
Albus Dumbledore placed the Philosopher's Stone inside the mirror and cast a powerful spell that meant only somebody who wanted the stone but who didn't want to use it, could get it.
It's a shard of the mirror that was never mentioned in the movies until that point. In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Sirius Black gave Harry one of his two way mirrors which would allow them to communicate.
Harry never used it and it eventually broke at the bottom of his trunk. Sirius' mirror was stolen by Mundungus Fletcher who sold it to Aberforth Dumbledore. Albus Dumbledore told his brother what it was and after Albus' death Aberforth looked out for Harry.
In the Order of the Phoenix, Sirius gave it to him has a two way communication device with him so they could talk anytime.
At the beginning to the Deathly Hallows, Harry accidentally breaks it but sees what he thinks is Dumbledores eye so it keeps it.
The mirror was given to Harry by Sirius at Christmas of his fifth year. It was a two-way mirror which allowed Harry to speak with the person who had the other half of the mirror. After Sirius died Aberforth Dumbledore bought the mirror and Albus told him what it did so when Albus died Aberforth kept a lookout for Harry and he sent them Dobby when Harry shouted that they needed help.
Harry Potter discovered the Mirror of Erised, a magical mirror that shows you your hearts deepest desire. In the mirror Harry saw his parents and other family members he never knew (in the movie it was only his parents).
The mirror is called the mirror of Erised . It shows the desires of your heart and Erised spells desire backwards.
The missing mirror is the Mirror of Erised (desire spelled backwards). It shows you your deepest wishes. Some people would stare into it for so long, that the mirror had to be hidden.
