They are the most common because almost all rocks are either composed of cemented sediment or formed from cooling lava/magma ( sedinmentary, igneous) and with the constant tectonic movement it causes extremely volatiee conditions that morph or change the shape and composition of rocks... thus resulting in metamorphic rocks...
