The most commonly-found sniper rifle out there is probably the Russian SVD-1 Dragunov. I had to laugh when the first ones of these got into the US Army's hands. All the experts were running around laughing that the Soviets weren't issuing "match grade" rifles to their snipers. Well gee guys, if the Soviets were to issue match grade rifles to their snipers it wouldn't matter--they aren't good enough shots to be able to take advantage of a rifle that can put a box of ammo through one hole from 500 meters. Dragunovs are plenty good for the shooters who use them.
It would certainly be some variant of the Kalashnikov AK-47. Tentatively, I'd be inclined to say the Chinese Type 56 would probably be the most common variant. The actual Soviet/Russian AKs aren't as widespread as some would tend to believe - although it wasn't always the rule, the Soviet Union tended not to directly supply countries about to get into a confrontation with major NATO powers, but would instead "authorise" other Iron Curtain countries to sell them weapons, so you tended to see more Romanian, Hungarian, Polish, East German, etc. rifles supplied to these countries than Soviet made rifles.
You will need to define assault rifle, and where you live. A TRUE assault rifle is a machine gun, and transfers of them are tightly regulated by the Federal government. What most people CALL an assault rifle is nothing but a semi-automatic rifle, and in most of the US, does not require a license to possess.
The M16 is a gas operated, semi automatic assault rifle with a calibre of 5.56mm, used most commonly by U.S Forces and other countries.
i like the one in halo combat evolved the best cuz it has the most shots but all assault rifles are amazing and cool the was no assault rifle in halo 2 but bungie put in the smg instead which is suppost to be the assault rifle
That is mostly a matter of opinion.
thay can all kill
no an ak 47 is a Russian assault rifle called a kalashnikov. It is the most widely used machine gun in the world
Most commonly used rifle is a .22
It depends on what you mean. Most people use the term assault rifle incorrectly. If you mean an AR-15, that is not an assault rifle. That is a semi-automatic magazine fed rifle, or, in current terms, a modern sporting rifle. AR-15 rifles are legal in every state in the U.S. as far as I know. Real assault rifles are legal in most but not all states, under certain restrictions.
Assault rifle is a legal term, and laws vary place to place. Under MOST of them, it is a centerfire semi-auto rifle larger than 22 caliber, with a removeable magazine that holds more than 10 rounds, and a pistol grip. The SKS does not have a pistol grip, and has a fixed 10 round magazine. Not an assault rifle.
STG 44 1940 (Nazi) techinically an assault rifle due to the rifled barrellbut it was developed off of the machine pistol 40. the first "true" assault rifle in it's own right is the automatic kalashnikov 47. this is the most known and is tsill used today
They are different lengths (and energies) of .22 rimfire cartridges. They are the most commonly sold cartridge in the world.
"Kalashnikov AK-47 AKM Assault Rifle" Is the most effective assault rifle yet invented, of course, there are many versions of this rifle, but it is powerful, cheap, deadly, and pretty much accurate on an assault-range. ^^^ Wrong.... wrong on so many levels. The AK47 and AKM are two different rifles. The AKM is an improved version. And its main weakness is that it fires that terrible 7.62 round... The AK74 is a completely superior gun. More accurate, better ballistics with the 5.45 round, less recoil, lighter etc.
