Pancreatic cancer has the lowest 5-year survival rate. Liver cancer has the next lowest rate.
Here, "deadly" is interpreted to be "aggressive", not "common" or "causing the most deaths" in a population.
The most deadly cancer is pancreatic cancer. Currently there is no effective method to diagnose it at an early stage, and by the time the patient feels any symptoms and sees a doctor about them, the cancer is usually at a late stage and the patient has only months or even weeks to live. A method (preferrably non-invasice such as a blood test) to detect pancreatic cancer early is key to be able to treat it effectively.
The second most deadly cancer is stomach cancer, a.k.a. gastric cancer.
If you define "most deadly" as the cancer site location where cancer kills the most people in the US, it is lung cancer. It kills approximately 183,500 people each year. It has just a 14% 5 year survival rate and afflicted 213,380 people in 2007. Interestingly, the most frequently occurring site location is prostate cancer with 218,890 cases despite the fact less than half the US population is subject to this form. Also interestingly, breast cancer, which has a special emotional and political focus kills less than one-sixth of the people that lung cancer kills.
Many Cancers are very dangerous some of them have better treatments. Some of them are acute or fast growing and some are chronic or slower growing. NONE OF THEM or something to mess with and treatment should be sought.
