This one sentence contains the essence of the Gospel:
"For God so loved the world : God's love for us is unconditional, all embracing and perfect
...that he gave his one and only Son,: in other words, Jesus came from God, and was divine.
...that whoever believes in him shall not perish: We are called to believe and follow Jesus Christ
...but have eternal life." : Thanks to jesus sacrifice on the Cross, and hus resurrection, we too are given the great promise of life eternal with him.
