For example, ribbon-shaped pastas are the most popular in the northern region of Italy. In the southern region of Italy, macaroni with tomato sauce is the most popular and favorite pasta. Risotto, which means rice dish with vegetables, is a first course, as well. Pizza is also a popular food in Italy. Wine is served with every meal other than breakfast. Italians also have desserts after a meal. Fresh fruit is often a dessert. Cakes are most likely the most popular dessert. Cakes include spumoni cake, which is all ice-cream, tiramisu cake, rum cake, cannoli cake, and cheesecake.
