When an addict tries to stop using the substance, withdrawal symptoms result, so treatment is usually done gradually with medical supervision.
It means you are dependent on a particular drug. It mean you are addicted and when you try not using that drug, you feel withdraw symptoms. You basically feel like 5hit and you almost need the drug again just to feel better.
You walk around in a daze and sometimes in physical pain because your body is craving that drug. Your body got used to existing with the drug so much that is became a part of you.
