If you wish to translate such a concept literally into Arabic (which is the Islamic Holy Language), it would be "Harb Muqaddis", but usually when referring to Islam, a person is looking for the term "Jihad" which is an Islamic Struggle for Dominance (over Oppression).

There is no term 'holy war' in Islam. The word which has been called 'holy war' is "Jihad", but jihad does not mean 'holy war'. Jihad means to strive to do the good. It may take the form of warfare, but mostly it does not. To make 'jihad' can mean: 1) to strive against one's own self so as not to commit sins. 2) to speak out against injustice 3) to help someone who is suffering. When jihad ( striving ) takes the form of fighting, it has very strict rules: 1) no innocent people should be harmed 2) no crops and livestock are to be destroyed 3) Muslims must not be the agressors 4) when a peace treaty is proposed, Muslims must try to make peace. Jihad can not be used the way terrorists have used it. Terror is not 'jihad'. www.freequran.org
