MAVEN is the name of the NASA spaceship carrying haiku and art to Mars.
MAVEN stands for Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN.
The MAVEN mission launched from Cape Canaveral on November 18, 2013, carrying selected art and haiku entries. It's ETA is September 2014.
MAVEN will orbit Mars and study the planet's upper atmosphere, sending back weather data that may explain what happened to water that ran there once, and what happened to the planet's once thick atmosphere.
