Crohn disease
Ileitis is inflammation of the ileum, which is a small portion of the small intestine. Crohn's disease is a type of disease that can also effect the ileum. Terminal ileitis: a chronic inflammatory disease of the intestine involving only the end of the small intestine or TERMINAL ILEUM. Crohn's disease affects primarily the small and large intestines but which can occur anywhere in the digestive system between the mouth and the anus. The diagnosis was thought to be the same however it is now known to be separate and would be treated differently.
Alternative names will be, proximal small bowel (duodenum) and distal or terminal small bowel (ileum)
Ileum
Yes. If the disease is active in and around the ileum or if the ileum (where the large and small bowel join) has been removed. The ileum is the part of the bowel that absorbs B12 and a lack of vitamin B12 results in anemia. Crohn's also can cause bleeding in the bowel and this can be quite heavy at times, this loss of blood can also cause anemia. Also, since some people may have bloody bowel movements, losing blood is also present here. This loss of blood can also cause anemia. In fact, anemia is a very common sign in Crohn's Disease- which is why many "Crohnies" take iron pills.
neo terminal ileum refers to the 'new' terminal ileum, i.e the 'new' last part of the small bowel. It would be referred to as neo or new because the original terminal ileum has previously been removed. If you haven't had the last part of your small bowel removed you would just have a terminal ileum. If you have had the last part of your small bowel removed, you will have a neo terminal ileum.

The inflammation of the small intestine is called enteritis. The suffix "enter" means small intestine and the prefix "itis" means inflammation. Not to be confused with gastritis which is the inflammation of the stomach. More specific terms based on location are ileitis (for ileum), jejunitis (for jejunum), and duodenitis (for duodenum). This inflammation could be due to the ingestion of contaminated food or water, which contains bacteria (like e-coli), viruses (such as Norwalk virus), parasites, certain drugs, toxins, substances that irritate the intestine. But, it also could be caused by radiation treatment, that cancer patients receive, and by longstanding medical conditions, such as Crohn's Disease.enteritisenteritisThe medical term for inflammation of the small intestine is enteritis. This inflammation could be due to the ingestion of contaminated food or water, which contains bacteria (like e-coli), viruses (such as Norwalk virus), parasites, certain drugs, toxins, substances that irritate the intestine. But, it also could be caused by radiation treatment, that cancer patients receive, and by longstanding medical conditions, such as Crohn's Disease.enteritis
