Because the chemicals in diet coke react with the chemicals in the mentos, Normal coke has the same chemicals that mentos has, that is why you need to have a positive and negative to react, Normal coke and mentos is positive and positive.

Any Mentos that have not been glazed will work. This is because the CO2 bubbles have to get into the holes in the Mentos to explose, but if the mint is glazed over they can not get in the holes.

You get a 2 litres of coke (diet coke works the best) and leave the cap off in an large, open area and put three~four of mentos (mint ones are better than fruit flavoured ones) in and then it will make a coke geyser.

For this "experiment" a single Mentos dropped into a half liter bottle will cause it to spout. Diet Coke works best. And a two liter bottle produces more than a half liter will.
No but it does need carbon dioxide and oxygen, be sure that IMMEDIATELY after you drop the mentos in, you put your mouth over the bottle opening and blow.
well you can experiment which type of mentos will make a soda explosian go higher for example you can say what is the effect of the flavor of mentoes on how high the soda explodes.so you can test one strawberry flavored mentos on a boddle of coke and some mint flavored mentos on a bottle of coke
The errors that may occur are: Differences in height that mentos is dropped from (if performed more than once, when comparing), If you accidentally shook the coke before performing the experiment and different flavours of mentos being used without noticing (eg. if using a fruit flavour pack, using all the flavours instead of using just one). no the control is that which is used to test your hypothesis. if mentos would blow up if you use caffeine and you used water, coke, and milk the water would be the control without it you cant do an experiment.
