The Nucleolus is a 'nuclear organelle' inside of the eukaryotic Cell's nucleus. It's primary role is to synthesize messenger Rna which is rapidly exported, via the Nuclear Pores, to the nearly situated Ribosome peppered Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum.
The nucleolus(plural nucleoli) is a non-membrane bound structure and is the centre of the cell. It is composed of proteins and nucleic acids found within the nucleus of eukaryotic cells. Its function is to transcribe ribosomal RNA(r RNA) and assemble it within the cell.

It is a non-membraneous site of rRNA transcription and processing, and some aspects of ribosome assembly.

Cells need large numbers of ribosomes at specific times for protein synthesis.

The 5.8S, 18S, and 28S rRNAs are transcribed as a single unit in the nucleolus by RNA polymerase I.

The nucleolus is approximately spherical but with an ill-defined edge and about 1 micrometer in diameter. Attached is an illustration: http://www.rkm.com.au/cell/organelles/nucleolus.html
