well, the golf gti themselves are the same, unless you are referring to two different model years. as far as the fsi part, there are two types of motors. the fsi and the tsi. the tsi replaced the fsi. the tsi now comes newer pistons and other features. you can buy these upgraded pistons for your fsi however from APR.

Twist and pull. It was easy in my MK5 TSI but you have the FSI. Pull off the engine cover. If needed you may need an oil wrench to pull it off. But make sure when you put it back on you only hand twist it.
