Although there is controversy about which were the first superior education institutions of the United States, The College of William and Mary claims itself the title of 'America's second-oldest college'. The College of William and Mary, located in the state of Virginia and it's a public research university. Some of the most important figures of American history, like U.S. Presidents James Monroe, Thomas Jefferson and John Tyler, graduated from William and Mary.
