The engine should run at about 200-240. Anything over about 250 will cause engine damage if run that hot for some time. GoodluckJoe

I take it you are referring to a civilian HMMWV? I know the operating temp for the military counterpart is 180deg F.

Whatever temp range the thermostat is, probably 195 degrees.

User Avatar

i think it must be 25 to 35

The operating temp for a 1.6 Hyundai Getz is between 200 and 220 degrees. This is the optimal temperature in which the engine can efficiently burn fuel without overheating.

If thermostat is faulty and engine does not reach operating temp and stay at operating temp for a period of time it will not steam away condensation . Or too many short trips !!!

User Avatar

should be 180 degree thermostat.

Around 195 -210 degrees fahrenheit.

Didn't have an air temp sensor in 92. Came out in 93.

Should be about 50% of your temp scale on the dash. As per manual. Info courtesy of www.Dranoweb.com

the engine will take longer to get to normal operating temp. and the water temp could fluctuate while driving

The sensor is a means for the driver to monitor the operating temperature of the engine .

User Avatar

the normal operating temp is 180 to 200 that's with pre 1993 318s and magnum 318s

User Avatar

195 to 210 degrees is NORMAL operating temperature.

User Avatar

normally the gauge should be in the middle.(between hot and cold) that is concider operating temp.

User Avatar

If the thermostat is broken and stuck open, the engine temp will not rise very fast. Hope this helps "G"

Fuel fail 14 appears to be a warm up strategy from the engine coolant temp sensor to pcm. Either the engine coolant temp sensor is out of range or, thermostat is taking to long for the vehicle to achieve operating temperature, wiring or pcm..
