Adam was called to care for the Garden of Eden and to have fellowship with God. Eve was taken out of Adam and presented to him by God. She was to be a help meet for him. The two were put out of the garden after disobedience to God. The original calling of having fellowship with God still stands but must be accomplished through the forgiveness of disobedience to God, or sin, by the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

Can you use vocation in a sentence?

WikiAnswers is NOT a vocation. A vocation is a spiritual calling.

What is a priests vocation?

A Vocation is a special calling from God for someone who is training or someone who wants to become a Parish Priest. :)

What do the sacrament of vocation refer to?

Vocations aren't sacraments, they're callings. Vocations take many forms, but you and I most commonly refer to them as "jobs" or "careers". A baker, the candlestick maker, the computer programmer and the artist are all vocations. The purpose of a vocation is to serve God. Whatever your vocation is, know that it is something God chose for you and through doing your vocation you are serving humanity and God by doing it well. The original answer to this question refers primarily to the sacrament of Holy Orders which is for clergy (Priests and Deacons). Nuns do not receive Holy Orders. Being a member of the clergy is *also* a vocation!

What does vocational mean?

A vocation is a calling to or preference for a certain profession, trade or occupation.

How do you know if you have a vocation?

You may have a vocation if you feel a strong pull towards a particular calling or way of life, such as a religious calling or a specific career path, and if this calling brings you a sense of purpose, fulfillment, and alignment with your values and beliefs. It can also involve a deep sense of commitment and dedication to serving others or pursuing a higher purpose. Talking to mentors or spiritual advisors can also help clarify your vocation.

Who has had a vocation?

I'm unsure as to how this specifically might relate to a religious question, but "vocation" is basically another word for "career" or "job." So, anyone who has ever had a job could be said to have had a "vocation." In the Catholic church "vocation" also refers to those who take a religious life - monks and nuns. Such a life is said to be their calling.

What does vocation to the priesthood mean?

To have a vocation is to have a specific "calling" or disposition towards the religious life. This means that God has granted the soul the grace of a vocation, or the invitation to intimately participate in ministry of His Church or to live, pray and work closer to Himself by living a life that is removed from the world. A vocation to the priesthood is a specific calling a young man feels to enter a seminary in order to train to become a priest. This calling may be simply a desire to serve as a priest, an intellectual resolution based on self evaluation, a religious experience (though these are rare and not to be looked for), or a recommendation by a parish priest or retreat master. A vocation to the priesthood is confirmed when the candidate enters the religious state and when the Church calls him to approach for ordination.

Is marriage a vocation if yes why?

Yes, marriage is considered a vocation because it is a calling to a lifelong commitment to love, support, and grow together with a partner. It involves self-giving, sacrifice, and service to one's spouse and family, which aligns with the idea of vocation as a divine calling to a particular way of life. Marriage is seen as a sacred union that is meant to bring out the best in each partner and contribute to the greater good of society.

What is the summary of the poem vocation?

'Vocation', a beautiful poem by Rabindranath Tagore, highlights the feelings of a boy, who craves for freedom from his regimented life. A boy who is bound by the rules of school, home and society, observes the routine life of a bangle-seller, a gardener and a watchman and wants to take their place. The routine bound boy wants freedom like these people. He wants to be anyone of them

What is the difference between a vocation and a career?

A vocation and a career are not mutually exclusive. A career is the job-path that one chooses for oneself, and a vocation is one's calling. So your career choice may be to be an artist, but if you hate doing that job, it is not also your calling. However, if your chosen career is to be a businessperson and you love to do that job, then it may also be your vocation. Similarly, you may have a career and a separate vocation. Perhaps you have a job, but your real vocation is the volunteer work you do on the weekends. Vocation is also typically used to describe the choice that some make to become a priest, nun, or deacon in the Catholic church.
