Vacuoles, organelles that are present in all plant and fungal
cells as well as those of other organisms (animal, bacterium,
protist), are closed compartments containing molecules enclosed by
water. This organelle therefore serves many functions.
The primordial utricle and the tonoplast are examples of cytoplasm that is present around the vacuoles of plants.
