It's virtually impossible to determine the percentage of bags that end up in the ocean. Though, 47% of debris blown away from landfills is plastic. A recent study found that for every pound of zooplankton in the Pacific Ocean, there are 46 pounds of plastic waste. Think of the probability that fish eat plastic instead of plankton. Then we eat the fish.
see related link for more information.
Did you know that fifty percent of pollution comes from plastic bags.
the impact is that the plastic bags go to the landfill which makes the environment dirty and smelly and that if the plastic bags get burned it will pollute the air. If the plastic bags got burnt it makes air pollution.. It hurts the environment when its burned the harmeful chemincals go into the air and polute it. Plastic Bags effect the environment in a BIG way! They kill native wildlife like turtles for they think there jellyfish. The also clog up our drains and pollute our oceans and other water supplies.

Plastics go to the oceans through rivers and ships.
If you go for shopping take your own cloth bags from home don't take plastic bags from shopkeeper.
i looked up on the net and found out that approximately 7 billion plastic bags go to landfill every year

Well, after the plastic bags get thrown away on the ground, they go into the ocean and kill a lot of animals. :(
1.go green plastic is obscene
Reduce:Get a reusable bag and cut down on your use of plastic bags. Also you could buy one of those new bags for life carrier bags because they are not plastic.Reuse:One way is to just reuse them - when you go to the shop or something, just take along a few bags and use them... Plastic bags can be reused easily since they are sturdier than paper bags. There are also tons of uses for them - carrying, stuffing, etc. Recycle: Yes, all plastic can be recycled, even bags. Plastic grocery bags can be recycled, you have to take them to a recycling center or even at HEB you can recycle plastic bags. Some places provide recycling bins for plastic bags - they get sent to recycling facilities YES, please recycle them because it will help the environment. They get melted and turned into blocks of plastic.
Paper bags are a very good alternate for Plastic bags because: They are bio-degradable and do not cause environmental pollution. The main reason why people do not go for Paper bags is because, plastic bags are cheaper than paper bags. If we as customers insist with shopkeepers that we would not accept plastic bags and would take only paper bags, they would stop using plastic bags and use paper bags instead. Ex: 100 plastic bags cost less than Rs. 50/- whereas an equivalent number of paper bags would cost 2 or 3 times as much. This is the reason why shop owners do not choose paper bags. If they are made aware of the damage plastic can do to the environment maybe they would change.
Plastic, I would assume. Some municipalities don't recycle plastic bags, an option is returning them to a store/supermarket that has a bag recycling bin near their entrance.
I've always used Glad plastic trash bags in my house. They are the best you can buy. You can't beat Hefty. They make the best plastic trash bags around. Definitely go with them.
Plastic bags are tron apart after one or two times, and then you go to shopping again and if you don't recycle the old bags (that you don't even look at because its useless) you are going to waste more plastic.
I'm pretty sure that there shipped off in a plane or a truck to stores and/or super markets. May I suggest the following. There's a place for plastic bags to go to after they are made; even before they are shipped to various places. That place could be the Packaging and Crating facility; then to the Storage Warehouses; then the Shipping and Handling Warehouse where they meet up with transportation to the Users of plastic bags. I hope you are a responsible user of plastic bags. xodyac
Ziploc bags are made from plastic. There are many different kinds of plastics that go into making a Ziploc bag.
3ways 1. Blow them away 2. Don't go somewhere with plastic bags(grocery stores) 3. Throw them away! its a way to help the earth!
Blue plastic bags. You do NOT want the details.
You need string and colourful plastic bags!measure a piece of string to fit your wrist and then put it to one sideGet different colour plastic bags and then cut little circles out of the different bags about 50 and in the circle cut a little hole for the string to go through and then thread the circles on the string and tie a not in the and then its finishedYou Could also cut plastic bags in to strips and tie them and then tie them round your wrist and do that with different colour bags
Paper bags are not better than plastic. Paper is bad because trees are needed, plastic bags are worse because they never go away naturally. Plastic may be a larger threat, but I would not make any exuse on buying the paper bags. If you are at a store, buy one of their re-usable GREEN BAGS. They are available at Walmart, dollar tree, etc.paper decomposes at a rate of almost a few weeks to max a few months were paper bags take hundred if not thousands of years to deccmpose,. not to mention that plastic is toxic to animals and has killed countless amounts of them.
Take it with you every time you go shopping and use it rather than picking up a new plastic bag until it wears out. You can also use plastic bags as trash cans. I have even seen people make dresses out of plastic bags.
Because if they eat the plastic they can die. That is why there is such a fuss about people dropping and letting go of any plastic or rubber things such as balloons.
Um. I'm not sure, but if you want to be environmentally friendly about the issue, then you should buy something that can be reused over and over. Like for example, if you want to go shopping to the food market/store you can put all of your groceries in there. And, keep reusing the bag again every time you go there. And, it's good for the environment because the plastic bags won't be polluting the waters that much anymore! And, I think non-woven bags might be able to replace plastic bags. Truly, it might even be better than plastic bags
