What is hybrid seed technology?

In hybrid seed production, the crosses are specific and controlled. The advantage of growing hybrid seed compared to inbred lines comes from heterosis. To produce hybrid seed, elite inbredvarieties are crossed with well-documented and consistent phenotypes (such as yield) and the resulting hybrid seed is collected.

Can hybrid plants that dont produce seed still pollinate other plants?

yes. in most (highly) hybridized plants seeds are produced but are either infertile or the genetics of the plant prohibit successful fertilization and the production of seed. this is very common occurrence amongst F1 Hybrid vegetable seed varieties. most hybrid plants do however produce viable pollen, allowing the hybrid plant to pollinate a non-hybrid plant. this is one of the major points of contention with genetically modified crops; where the "inserted" gene could in fact find its way into other closely situated crops.

What are hybrid crops?

A hybrid has the genetics of both of its originating crops but may have complete unique outward characteristics. This is because two hidden recessive genes from the two originating crops can be combined to produce an outward visible effect in the hybrid.

Why hybrids are not successful in self pollinated crops?

In self pollinated crops, hybrid vigour is not just like the cross pollinated crop e.g maize.cross pollination in self pollinated crop produce low seed set and cost of hybrid seed increases.less cytoplasmic male sterility and fertility restorer gene in mostly self pollinated crop.

Can you start a eucalyptus tree from a clipping?

I really don't think that you can! I have grown hundreds of eucalypts but never from a cutting. They do, however, grow quite readily from seed and will be true to type if the tree isn't a hybrid. Depending where you live, you can collect the seed pods or buy it from a seed supplier.
