it all depends on the harddrive size. The size of the harddrive is measured in gigabytes or gigs. Then a number like 160 (thats the size of mine) It also depends if you have an external harddrive. I hope this answered your question.

Most computers have some sort of boot-up code in ROM (Read Only Memory) which subsequently loads the operating system from the hard disk. There is also a battery backed-up memory that you can read from and write into. The battery life is quite long (5 years +) and these batteries get charged when the computer is powered on. This memory is used to save the system configuration, time of day, language settings and a multitude of other pertinent information that is carried over from power on to power on. This way such common and mundane information need not be entered every time the computer is powered up for its proper functioning.
