The ciruit breaker box. This is usually mounted near the main power source in the home. Try the basement, the back porch, or near the kitchen. If all else fails, go outside and look where the power meter is. The breaker box should be nearby inside the home. In many homes the electrical panel is in the basement. In homes that do not have basements the electrical panel is placed in the garage.

It should be connected in series with a circuit. Since a circuit breaker acts as an "over current" switch it will be connected just an on/off would so as to "open" the circuit during an over current condition. This will remove power from the circuit.

What do u mean by "service entrance"

Circuit breakers are also swithes and can be used as such

In a garage or warehouse circuit breakers are by the main door used for that area

If it is a multiple unit residential or commerical building and your talking about circuit breakers to control each units panel it can be inside or outside depending on distance between main service feed and additional service equipment( disconnects,meters,panels,sub-panels)

Why is it important that homes have circuit breakers?

Fuses and circuit breakers are meant to protect your home's wiring from the heat generated from fault-currents and over-currents. Over-currents happen when you exceed the amperage the fuse or breaker is rated for over a period of time (IE: drawing 20 amps on a 15 amp circuit breaker). When this occurs a fuse or circuit breaker will open the circuit so the wiring in your home will not be damaged. Over-currents happen when electricity finds a path, other than the one intended, to ground. When this happens there is very little resistance to slow the flow of electricity and the amperage through the circuit can exceed the fuse or circuit breakers rated capacity by several hundred times . These type of faults cause the fuse or circuit breaker to open the circuit very quickly.

Where circuit breaker are used?

Circuit breakers do not use anything, they are a controlling device. They can automatically open the circuit if the current exceeds the current rating and you can manually disconnect the power from the circuit.

Can home circuits have safety devices called fuses and circuit breakers that close a circuit when too much current passes through?

The safety devices does not close, but opens the circuit. Homes in the United States must have circuit current protection in order to meet building code requirements. They can use fuses or the push-in circuit breakers. In order for amperage to flow through them, they must be closed, which provides a continuous flow of current from the source to the load. If too much amperage passes through, the fuse blows or the circuit breaker opens, creating an open circuit that stops the flow of electricity.

How do you build a series circuit in your home?

You do not build a series circuit in your home. The only series circuits are the circuits that go through circuit breakers, light switches, and relays. Electrical and electronic devices use internal series circuits but those are the only ones people build. No one builds series circuits for house wiring. Electrical outlets are connected with parallel wiring.

Types of circuit breakers?

There are several type of circuit breakers now a day we are using these are as follows: 1. M.C.B. (Miniature circuit Breaker) Rating : 1, 2, 4, 6, 10, 16, 20, 25, 32, 63 Amperes 2. M.C.C.B. (Miniature current circuit Breaker) Rating : 10, 16, 20, 25, 32, 63, 100, 200, 250, 400 Amperes. 3. A.C.B. (Air Circuit Breaker) Rating : 400, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, 1800, 2000 Amperes. 4. A. B. Switch (Air Breaker) used in High tension line. 5. SF6 Breaker (Contact break in the Sf6 medium) used in High tension line.
