Since Neptune, the 8th planet, is the furthest from the Sun, you'd expect it to be the coldest.

However, it isn't.

Neptune has a very hot core of molten ammonia and various gasses such as methane, which slightly heats the freezing planet.

In fact, the coldest planet is the 7th planet in our solar system, Uranus.

Neptune, the furthest, has an average temperature of -218°C (55K).

Uranus, the second furthest has an average temperature of -224°C (49K).

Pluto is -230°C (43K), however it is no longer classified as a planet.

Venus, although second planet from the sun has the highest temperature due to a hot atmosphere. Pluto, being the ninth planet from the sun has the lowest temperature. If you do not count pluto as a planet, the coldest is Neptune.
