The main theme of Deuteronomy is obedience as tought by Moses. He reminded the Israelites to learn from the example of their parents.
The theme of Deuternomy is law. The meaning of this word is "second law". It repeats the laws covered in the second thru forth books of The Bible.

The book of Deuteronomy delineates God's laws regarding covenant renewal and religious framework to the Israelites believed to have been proclaimed to Moses on Mount Sinai. In addition to the laws, it also contains historical chapters detailing the Israelite's doings between their wandering in the desert and their crossing of the Jordan River.
