Jet pump will not pump why?

The jet pump should have a 3/8" plug at the top of the pump,, where the water comes in from the well. Remove plug, and fill that port up as much as you can, turn pump on,,and keep filling with clean water,,[any dirt that gets caught in side the venturi it will not archive priming],,once the port is full the motor will start singing a different tune,, you will know when it starts pulling water because you will hear the load on the motor,,and water will start to come gushing out the port,,quickly install the 3/8 plug, [make sure the plug has pipe dope on it before you install it] at that time it should start pulling water, and once the pump reaches 50 or 60 lbs. The pump will shut off. If it does not hold the prime the 1st time repeat by removing the 3/8" plug again . It may take a few times before the pump holds its prime.
