Most cathderals are large, some hundreds of feet long, and most of the older ones are also very high. There is at least one small cathedral, in Portsmouth UK, which is smaller than an average church.

The Catholic Church is pretty big since several countries have declared Catholicism as their main religion. Ireland, Spain, and several Central American and South American countries are populated by Catholics.

There is no Roman Catholic Church in Brazil. It's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church.

.

The Catholic Church in Brazil has the largest number of Catholics in the world in any one nation. According to Wikipedia references from the Brazilian Institute; 57% of Brazil is Catholic, while the CIA Factbook puts the percentage of Brazilians who are Catholic at 84.5. Wikipedia is apparently compromising and listed the percentage as 64.63 for a total of 123,280,172 Catholics.

If you mean church building, the largest church is St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, which can accommodate 60,000 people.

The entire complex of the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace of Yamoussoukro in Côte d'Ivoire has a larger footprint, if you include the rectory and a villa, but the church itself is smaller.

Who built the cathedrals for the church?

Each cathedral has its own history. The basic definition of a cathedral is the place where the cathedra is. The cathedra is the chair the bishop uses. So a cathedral is usually the big church or the main parish within a wider diocese, which the bishop is the leader for.
