An epiphone SG. WEll all depends, on you What style Guitar you like better), and what your playing, I've been Playing for Awhile and i play AC/DC, and other common 70's and so on, So for me i need a Guitar that will let me get to the Higher Frets, for solos, and I'm a Gibson Guy, And SG's Are awsome, great Guitars.. the only differences between a Epipone Sg and a Gibson SG, are the Name, and Designs, pickups, and just little things. the Epi SG 310 is ok, but i'd save up for the Sg G400. Better Parts, Sound , Wood, Playability, and so on.

There are different models which varies in price. the Gibson SG Standard's factory price is 2,500 dollars but on any dealer its about 1,200, the Gibson SG Faded's price is 700 and is close to the same price. the cheapest sg would be made by the lesser known company owned by Gibson, Epiphone, that is the Epiphone SG Special. its list price is 300, but in any dealer is 169.
definitely the epiphone as epiphone is owned by Gibson ( a leading guitar brand ) the epiphone looks better and should sound way better. you can trust epiphone also i will be buying and epiphone sg for Christmas..
i would recommend a les paul.... i have a sg g-400 and iys not as cool as my friends les paul

Gibson are far better than epiphone because Gibson bought epiphone to basically use them as a cheaper, not as good quality versions of g the Gibson models. Gibson do not only sound better but are much easier to play. although gibsons are very expenssive (sg=£600-1000 les paul=£1000-5000) i would suggest that if you can afford one, then you should buy one as it will improve your playing as well.
NO! The G-400 is a newer Epiphone guitar (it's the epi version of the Gibson SG). Back in the day Iommi used Gibson SGs but he got a deal with Epiphone to create the modern day signiture guitar, which replicates his sound. As far as I know he still uses a Gibson SG.
depending on what model you want, guitarcenter.com search epiphone sg or les paul whatever model you want
No. You should not spend that kind of money on a guitar until you have at least mastered the basics and proven to yourself that you are serious about playing this instrument. For less than half the cost of a Gibson SG you can get the budget equivalent model - Epiphone SG.
