Conduction
the liquid or gas must circulate to move the heat.
convection
heat energy is basically kinetc energy (movement energy), since heat is the atoms moving about, the atoms in the gas ring crash into the atoms of the spoon, and cause the atoms in the spoon, eventually the energy (movement), will be evenly spaced between all the atoms in the spoon and gas ring, this transferr is like when a snooker ball hits a triangle of the balls and makes all of them move around
Convection is the transfer of heat in a gas or liquid caused by differences in density, thus when molecules in the medium are heated they form a less dense gas or liquid which then rises through the cooler unheated medium, thus creating moving warm currents.
a vacuum flask is not 100% vacuum. it contains some particles or gas molecules which absorbs a small amount of heat.
"Conduct" and "convection" are two different processes of heat transfer. When heat is transferred through a gas, the primary mechanism is convection.
...in a gas compared to what?
the liquid or gas must circulate to move the heat.
the liquid or gas must circulate to move the heat.
convection
via conduction. there are 3 types of heat transfer: conduction = transfer through direct touch convection = transfer through a liquid or gas radiation = transfer through electromagnetic waves
energy is transferred through moving currents of warmer air or liquid
Heat can be transferred through liquids and gases by means of conduction as well as conduction. The difference is that convection is not possible in solids.ConductionDuring conduction, heat is transferred due to the vibration of the molecules. A molecule at a higher temperature has more energy, and hence vibrates faster. It collides with other atoms and passes energy onto it. The chain continues and heat is transferred without any appreciable movement of molecules.ConvectionIn convection, the hotter particles move around in the fluid, transferring energy to the colder molecules. For example, when heating water in a vessel on a stove, the water at the bottom is heated first. It rises to the top and the cooler water flows down to be heated. This continues and heat is transferred throughout the fluid. Heat is transferred with the movement of molecules.
No it can't because the particles are not close enough for the heat to be transferred
Heat pump pool heaters use electricity to capture heat. As the pool pump circulates the water, it is drawn from the pool and through a filter and into the heat pump heater. The heater itself has a fan that pulls in outside air and pushes it over the evaporator coil. At this point liquid refrigerant in the evaporator coil absorbs the heat from the outside air converting it into a gas. The gas is then passed through the compressor where it increases the heat. This very hot gas is then sent through the condenser where the hot gas is transferred to the cool pool water circulating through the heater. The heated water is then returned to the pool. A pool heater on the other hand uses the gas directly to heat the water by fueling the combustion chamber.
